Position Summary: The CNC Lathe Machinist will operate and program as well as maintaining, setting, and adjusting the machine. To produce high-quality parts, machinists will set up machines, write and test programs, and make adjustments as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following, as well as other duties that may be assigned.

• Sets up, programs and operates lathe independently
• Optimize programs, set ups, fixtures, process improvements and cycle time reductions.
• Load program, load tooling, program edits, adjust offset, feeds and speeds and tool cutter comp to optimize production while maintaining quality
• Interprets complicated drawings, program sheets, instructions, and process sheets to determine work to be done
• Performs diversified operations on numerical controlled machines
• Performs a variety of related operations to close and interrelated tolerances
• Reviews setup sheet and specifications to determine sequence and dimensions of finished work piece
• Attaches fixtures to machine according to setup instructions
• Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions
• Performs a variety of inspection and gaging operations to insure maintenance of quality standards and specifications
• Measures work piece for conformance to specifications
• Adjusts machine according to specifications
• Cleans machine parts and performs machine maintenance

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficiency using CNC manufacturing machinery
• Knowledge of basic computer skills and understand machining programs
• Knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1-3 years’ experience in a fabrication/production role

Licensing/Certificates: CNC machine certification a plus.
